The British Broadcasting Corporation, popularly known as BBC is probably one of the best known news corporation. The corporation has a department called BBC news which was earlier known as BBC News and Current Affairs. This department is responsible for the corporation’s activities like gathering the news and the production of various news programs. These programs are meant to be broadcasted and telecasted on BBC television, radio as well as the BBC website.

BBC news produces almost 120 hours of output every day. It is currently the largest broadcasting news gathering organization in the world. It also carries out the key duties of the BBC’s Royal Charter which involves the collection of news and information in almost any part of the world in a manner that is thought to be fit. ]
BBC news is located at the News Centre inside the BBC Television Centre in West London. The department is represented by regional centers all over the United Kingdom along with almost 44 news-gathering bureaus all over the world.
The department has an annual budget of £350 million, and has a staff of 3,500 out of which 2,000 are journalists.
The main competitor of BC news is the rolling news channel Sky News as well as ITN which is a major independent news services provider for the commercial networks.
However all over the world the BBC news work in tandem with other news providers. This is especially done is some countries that restrict BBC news and its journalists for internal political reasons.
